Frequently asked questions.

  • Read up about the different Adventure Races around your area and start with the shortest course they do. The Spirited Women Short Course is a great option! Get yourself a good pair of trail shoes and start getting in the hills on foot and on your Mountain Bike! Next step is to find a Navigation Clinic near you (We run them in Christchurch and Dunedin so check out our Upcoming Events page for our next Clinic) so you have some map reading knowledge behind you to be able to find your checkpoints. Then get in touch about a Training Plan to give yourself some structure and support to nail your race goals!

  • Everyone! From beginner adventure racer that wants to know where to start, to a seasoned racer that wants to see some training gains and hit some goals. We have set Training Plans for the Spirited Women Adventure Race and the Spring or Summer Challenge, but we can cater to any Adventure Race so just get in touch!

  • The majority of your plan will be Running/Trekking and Mountain Biking. But if you have access to a Kayak then we will add in a kayak option into your weeks so you can feel ready on all levels! We also add in strength training specifically designed for adventure racers and will give you videos to follow for these.

  • No you don’t! Depending on whether you have access to a gym or just a space at home, we will give you a program that will target and load the muscle groups needed. This way you can build on your power, speed and work on any imbalances you might have. All so you can stay strong and injury free through your next training block!

  • Yes, you will want some map reading knowledge behind you before you hit your event. You will get a map provided and you will want to be familiar with it so you know where to go to get your checkpoints to be able to complete your event. We provide Navigation Clinics that are a great lead in to your Adventure Race or Rogaine, have a look on our Upcoming Events page to see where and when our next one is!

  • No you don’t, BUT, it will speed up your day a lot if you hit a more technical race. The Race Organisers like to change things up, so sometimes you will need a compass to find the most direct route and cut a good amount of time off your race, but other times you can mostly use features to get yourself around.
